In a press meet held on Thursday at Manipur Press Club, TAKL president Yarchuiso Kashung said that works relating two packages namely MN09230 PMGSY-II for the construction of road from Yaingangpokpi to Chadong and MN09205 from Kangkum to Wangli road were not executed.

The roads under packages of PMGSY-II for construction of road of 10 km from Yaigangpokpi to Chadong and 15 km from Kangkum to Wangli road were shown as completed as per the board displayed at Yaingangpokpi and Kangkum; however, the said works have never been executed and can bee seen if the field inquiry is conducted, he said.

He said that in the board of Yaigangpokpi, it has been shown that the date of completion of construction is July 5,2022 and maintenance period is July, 2022 to July 5, 2027. Similarly, in the board of Kangkum it has shown that commencement of work is August 3, 2019 and completed on February 2, 2021 and the period of guarantee given by the contractor is five years from the date of completion, he mentioned.

However, both the works have never been executed by the concerned contractors by taking undue advantage for having maintenance period without execution, he alleged. The roads still remain as virgin soil and untouched by sprinkling some pebbles in some areas, he said.

Moreover, there are 22 numbers of culverts to be constructed as per the packages of two roads; the same have never been constructed by the IFCD (now water resource department), he added.

He urged the state government and authorities concerned to visit the work sites for proper verification within a reasonable period of two weeks and a proper direction be given to the contractors concerned to complete the works, failing which they will be compelled to take up various agitations.

He cautioned that if required, they will also approach the Lokayukta, Manipur for initiating appropriate proceedings for initiation of corruption charges and other criminal charges to book the concerned contractors and officials of RD and PR department for misusing the public exchequer.
