The Communist Party of India-Manipur State Council (CPI-MSC) on Tuesday appealed to the Union government to conduct a survey on the current state of Manipur and stated that CPI had conducted a campaign to stop price hike.

A release issued by CPI-MSC assistant secretary M Joykumar Luwang urged the Indian government to send a central team at Manipur to conduct a thorough survey regarding the ongoing clash with burning and destruction of houses, killing of innocent people and breaching of SoO agreements etc.

It condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s alleged indifference toward the ongoing issue of Manipur while going about his electoral campaigns around India. Investigating the root cause of the clash and finding a long-term solution should be the top priority of the authorities concerned, it continued.

It stated that the authorities should also take immediate measures against those responsible for the price hike during such difficult time.

The CPI-MSC started a campaign to chamber of commerce to check and control the price hike
in the state, it added.

It maintained that the government immediately should send security forces, including para-military forces to Khundrakpam, Churachandpur, Moreh and Koutruk to bring the situation under control.

The SoO cadres who are operating outside their camps burning and destroying properties and killing people with heavy arms should be stopped immediately, it added.

It continued that rather than relying only on the donations from the people, the relief camps should be provided with the essential relief materials by the government. It also urged the ministers and authorities concerned to do the needful immediately.

The stranded non-tribal populations in volatile areas, including Churachandpur and Moreh should be transported to safer place and their losses should be compensated accordingly, it mentioned.

The MLA should ensure the participation of members of all parties in the constitution of the respective peace committees in various assembly constituencies as per the meeting between CM and all Manipur parties, it added.
