The Communist Party of India (CPI) Manipur State Council on Tuesday launched “Save Manipur, Save Humanity” campaign with an aim to safeguard and protect the territorial integrity of Manipur, save lives and restore peace and normalcy in the violence-hit Manipur.
The CPI “Save Manipur, Save Humanity” campaign was initiated in view of the prevailing turmoil in the state.
A joint meeting of CPI Manipur State Level Task Force and Peace Committees was held at Irabot Bhawan.
Members present at the meeting alleged the Central Government of sidelining the woes of the people of Manipur, reeling under the conflict and failing to do the needful to bring back normalcy even as the state entered day 13 (Tuesday) of the riots. They also lamented over the failure of the Prime Minister and Home Minister to announce ex-gratia to the affected victims of the conflict till date, it stated.
CPI Manipur Sate Council further took a swipe at the BJP, stating that the frequent visits by BJP ministers and leaders to the state have ceased, especially when it's most needed.
It asserted that the leaders have turned a blind eye to the hardships facing the people of the state, it mentioned.
The party also pointed out that though a large number of central forces have been deployed in the State in addition to the Manipur Police Forces and Assam Rifles which were already in the State, they are not able to de-escalate the conflict nor able to fully protect and save the people. It further urged the State Government to effectively utilise the security forces in saving lives of the people, it added.
