Communist Party of India, CPI Heirok Local Council has appealed to the government to take up initiatives for the welfare of the displaced people taking shelter in different relief camps and to let them return back to their respective homes.
CPI Heirok Local Council, in a release on Sunday, also urged the authorities concerned to provide compensation to the clash hit victims as promised by the government, at the earliest.
It said that the council on Saturday held a meeting presided by Ningthoujam Lokendro, which discussed the ongoing violence between two communities in the state and took several resolutions.
It also condemned the alleged gangrape of a 37-year-old Meitei woman in Churachandpur on May 3, the day the ethnic violence erupted in the state and the inhuman behavior of Assam Rifles personnel on Meira Paibis in Torbung Bangla. It also demanded to remove AR from the state.
CPI Heirok local council paid homage to those who sacrificed their lives during the current unrest. It also appreciated the major roles taken by the Meitei women during the violence.
