One person was arrested and nearly 400 illegal cough syrup bottles were seized from his possession, Thoubal District Police said on Tuesday.
According to the police, they received a tip-off about illicit drugs being transported to Lilong Atoukhong Dam area around 6.30 am on Tuesday.
A team of Thoubal police commando led by additional SP (Ops) Thoubal O Wangkhombaand assisted by OC Thoubal Commando inspector Nitaranjan Singh under the supervision of SP Thoubal Jogeshchandra Haobijam rushed to the area.
The team conducted a search operation at the residence of one Singamayum Iliyas Khan, 20, son of Md Isamuddin from Lilong Atoukhong Dam Mamang, it stated.
The police team arrested Illiyas Khan by observing all the formalities and seized a total 396 cough syrup bottles from his possession, police stated.
The arrested person along with seized items were being handed over to Lilong Police Station, and a case has also been registered for further necessary action, it added.
