The people of Manipur will give a clear mandate to the Congress party as the people are fed-up of the five-year rule led by the Bharatiya Janata Party and no one is interested in ‘hyginbi government’ (fake government), said AICC observer Jairam Ramesh on Saturday.

“I strongly believe that the Congress will be back in power automatically as no one is interested in the hyginbi government, so-called double engine government,” he said.

The AICC senior observer was addressing the media prior to the announcement of the silent period of the first phase of Manipur polls at the MPCC office in Imphal West. He said the Congress manifesto is drafted in such a way which will help Manipur’s revival from the five-year darkness of the BJP era and the long-term survival of the people of Manipur.

Unlike the manifesto of BJP which omits issues of public interest such the AFSPA issue, the ADC elections, the MPSC recruitment and others, the Congress manifesto focuses on all aspects considering the public interests, he said, adding it also gives special emphasis on the welfare of women, farmers and youths.

The five-year regime of the BJP in Manipur is a complete failure in all developmental aspects and moreover it suppressed the democratic and civil rights and liberties of the people of Manipur, he alleged.

“The sun set in Manipur five years ago. Fortunately the sun in Manipur will rise on March 10 and the people of Manipur will be free from all the external forces of the BJP, the RSS and those who want to destroy the culture, diversity and heritage of Manipur,” he said.

The AICC observer also contended that the BJP instead of delivering the basic rights to the people, are engaging with drug mafia in conducting various drug businesses for their personal benefits without considering the future of the younger generations.
