The Congress party on Thursday has thrown down the gauntlet to the BJP, inviting them to join the “Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra” in the Northeast, challenging the claims of development made by the ruling party.

The yatra’s pamphlets were launched at Congress Bhawan in Imphal on Thursday. AICC Media Coordinator (NE in-charge) Mathew Antony, addressing the media, contradicted the BJP’s assertion of development in the Northeast.

He highlighted that several locations in the outskirts still lacked any signs of progress.
Expressing concern over the rising crime rates in the state, encompassing crimes against women and tribals, he cast doubt on the BJP government’s efforts questioning, “What is the BJP government doing?”

Antony alleged that in recent years, the country has witnessed the highest inflation rate, asserting, “In their regime, the poor are getting poorer while the rich are getting richer.”
He went further to claim that democracy is being undermined, and constitutional values, institutions, and secularism are compromised.

To address injustice and inequalities, Rahul Gandhi is championing the cause through this yatra, aiming to amplify the voices of citizens deserving justice, he explained.

Emphasising that the yatra is a people’s walk, open to all, he called upon the public to support the cause by giving a miscall to 9891802024 and stated, “The yatra is for everyone, and anyone can be a part of it to fight for justice for all.”

The launching of the pamphlet was also attended by leaders of the MPCC and AICC.
