The Gangte Tribe Council (GTC) in Manipur on Monday condemned the state government failure to ensure execution of PMGSY works under Thanlon Sub Division, Churachandpur district “despite repeated petitions to the authorities for redressal”.

The GTC in a release condemned the “indifferent attitude” of Chief Minister N Biren-led government regarding the non-execution of the PMGSY works under Thanlon Sub Division despite several petitions to the authorities concerned.

The GTC said the PMGSY package No MNO-3101 Galkapkot to Gamhui Part I and PMGSY package No MNO-3102 Galkapkot to Gamhui Part II amounting to Rs 740.43 lakh was sanctioned in 2014. But the works still have not been executed, it said.

The council alleged that despite the non-execution of the work, the completion reports of these particular works was submitted in March 2020.

“The GTC submitted a complaint regarding the issue to the CM on August 31 seeking redressal. However no positive action has been taken up to redress our grievances,” it read.

Although the CM’s efforts to bring equitable development in the hills and valley of the state with ‘Go to Village’ and ‘Go to Hills’ initiatives are appreciated, the silence of the government at the non-execution of PMGSY works has tainted the trustworthiness of the sincerity of the government towards minority community living in remote areas of the state, it stated.

Drawing the state government's attention for immediate intervention on the issue, GTC urged the authorities concerned to inspect the condition of the road at the earliest.
