Communities appeal for peace and normalcy in Manipur

The Jamiat Ulema Manipur and Naga Christian Forum Manipur highlighted the major burden which is affecting mainly the poor and the innocent citizens of the whole state including non-conflicting communities.

Jamiat Ulema Manipur and Naga Christian Forum Manipur, expressing grief over the unfortunate turmoil and prevailing violent conflict in the state, have appealed for swift restoration of peace and normalcy in the state.

Representing the Naga and Meitei-Pangal communities, the two bodies, in a release, lamented over the loss of many lives, wanton destruction of properties, displacement and disruption of people’s movement and various occupations, exorbitant price rise etc., it stated.

It highlighted the major burden which is affecting mainly the poor and the innocent citizens of the whole state including non-conflicting communities. It expressed heartfelt condolence for the lives lost and also shared the suffering and sorrow of all those affected by the conflict.

It appealed to the conflicting parties to restrain and cease all forms of violent activities to pave the way to resolve the differences through dialogue. It urged the Central and state Governments to pro-actively perform their duty of protecting lives and property of the citizens by disarming both parties of the wanton use of sophisticated weapons.

It stressed the need to need to constitute a committee and pave way for bringing the two parties to the negotiating table. It further appealed to the conflicting parties to take extreme care that the other neutral communities are not touched and harmed in any way.
