Co-ordinating Committee of 24 Assembly Constituencies and Mackcmal, Union of Social Upliftment and CFC (Thongju) on Wednesday warned of imposing a 24-hour public curfew from midnight of August 4 till August 5 midnight if the state government fails to issue a notification to convene an emergency assembly session within August 3.
The committee convened a meeting on July 26 pressing demand on the state government to convene an emergency assembly special session within five days i.e. between July 29 and August 2 and take a concrete resolution once and for all to protect the state’s unity and integrity from external threats, stated a release.
It decried the demand for separate administration in Manipur or any threats that will disintegrate the state. It also appealed to table the issue in the ongoing parliament session and take necessary measures and actions to curb the violence in the state.
The committee along with the public will carry out peaceful protests at the entrance gates of the MLAs from August 6 should the government fail to give a response to their demand, it asserted.
It mentioned that health, religious activities and emergency services shall be exempted from the purview of the public curfew. It further urged the public to extend their cooperation.
