The Working Committee on Protection of Meitei Temples (WCPMT) formed under UKAL on Friday thanked all those who have extended their assistance during the ‘Laithou’ ceremony organised by the committee at Salairen Sidaba Epagi Laishang located at Kongba Maru Shrine.
The Committee, in a release, expressed immense gratitude to officials and personnel of Imphal East police, CRPF, BSF and Gurkha Rifles for ensuring safety and security of those who attended the ceremony. It further thanked Keirao MLA Rameshwor, volunteers and the public for their support.
The ceremony was held under the initiative of Kongba Maru Laiphamlel Semgat Sagat Lup with assistance from the Village protection force (VDF) and EKAL, it stated.
Meitei devotees have been unable to visit shrines to offer prayers nor perform religious ceremonies owing to terror attacks by Chin Kuki narco-terrorists against the Meiteis besides destroying sacred shrines of the community, it mentioned.
