Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) convenor Longjam Ratankumar on Tuesday announced the committee, in continuation of its demand for a ‘special status’ of Manipur, started meeting the leaders of political parties, drawing their unanimous support for a better Manipur.
He was speaking to the media at the office of United Committee Manipur (UCM), located at Lamphel on Tuesday.
He said COCOMI had already submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through email on January 19 and started to meet political party leaders of Manipur to support its demand.
Ratankumar recalled that the memorandum was submitted as per a resolution taken during the public convention held at GM hall on December 26 last year.
He said for Manipur, its 12th Legislative Assembly election has been scheduled on February 28 and March 5 for phase I and phase II, respectively. Mentioning that some of the political parties had already released their election manifesto, he appealed to all the political parties to include the demand of ‘special status’ of Manipur in support of the movement initiated by COCOMI.
Ratankumar said an appointment for state president, BJP A Sharda devi has been fixed and COCOMI will further meet all the state presidents or secretaries of each political party for the same goal.
He also urged the social activists of the state to support the demand of COCOMI to deliver a ‘special status’ for Manipur.
