The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) on Wednesday demanded to place the action report on whether Militants under Suspension of Operation (SoO) abide by the Rule of Law before the public.

The committee along with the public made the demands to the Central and State Government, fixing 6 pm of Tuesday as the deadline to fulfil their demands, a release stated.

COCOMI said that the prevailing communal unrest and violence in the State has significantly improved.

However, it maintained that the only way to usher in peace and bring back normalcy in the state is when all the Kuki militants are sent back to their respective camps and appropriate legal actions are initiated, it mentioned.

The committee went on to say that the anguish and apprehensions among the public will not be eased until the same is done, it stated.

COCOMI also questioned the involvement of SoO militants in the peaceful rally, which led to the outbreak of the conflict.

COCOMI said that the Committee along with the 6 students bodies including MSF, SUK, AIMS, DESAM and KSA has been extending necessary assistance to the affected victims who are stuck in various places across the State owing to the communal conflict.

The Committee asserted that it has been making all out efforts to bring back normalcy in the State and assured to continue the same.

COCOMI also called upon everyone especially the youths to safeguard the age-old tradition of co-existence and territorial integrity of the State and further reaffirmed its stand on maintaining harmonious co-existence amongst all the ethnic communities of the State as well as to protect the State’s territorial integrity, it stated.

COCOMI also expressed discontentment over the price hike of essential commodities amidst such hard times in the State and urged traders and sellers to be sensible and immediately stop such activities.

The committee further demanded the state government to ensure safety of the affected victims of the conflict, it added.
