The protest will be held on Thursday at Yaipha Thouni Shanglen, Keishampat Leimajam Leikai from 10.30 am to 2 pm with like-minded organisations, COCOMI stated in a release.

COCOMI stated that they condemned the killing of daily wage earners while returning from work by para commandos of the Indian Army at Oting Village under Mon district of Nagaland in the evening of December 4 at the strongest terms.

It further stated that words and actions of the government of India are contradictory. They always claimed that India’s development is incomplete without the development of its Northeastern states. But in fact, they continue to discriminate and oppress the people of this region by imposing a draconian law-Armed Forces Special Powers Act 1958 for such a long period of time, it added.

Under the shadow of this act, rights of the people of this region have been violated in many aspects. The government of India should stop fooling the people of this region with false statements, it further stated, adding that the government of India does not treat Naxalite affected states and Northeast states equally.

Condemning the tragic incident of Oting ambush, COCOMI share the grief and pain of the bereaved families.
