CM Biren flags off AMWJU's Andaman Island tour

Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh ceremoniously flagged off the All Manipur Working Journalist Union (AMWJU) Tour to the picturesque Andaman Islands from his Secretariat on Saturday.

The ceremony took place at the Chief Minister’s Bungalow where the CM extended his best wishes for a fruitful and safe voyage.

Expressing gratitude towards the Union Home Minister and the Prime Minister of India for their recognition of Manipur’s historical significance, particularly the replacement of Mount Harriet with Mount Manipur, CM Biren applauded the journalists’ initiative in visiting a place deeply intertwined with Manipur’s past struggles against British rule.

His remarks resonated with the gathered journalists, who eagerly anticipated not only the adventure awaiting them in the Andaman Islands but also the potential for enhancing their craft and contributing to informed public dialogue upon their return.

“I wish you all a safe and memorable journey,” the CM said.

Organized by AMWJU, the delegation comprises 30 media personnel, including officials from the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR).
