Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Sunday said the time has come for the people of Manipur to work together with full cooperation to save the state or we will be doomed if we continue to criticize each other.

Biren was speaking on Sunday during the inauguration of Multipurpose Rural Development Centre Hall and New Building of the Heingang Kontha Makha Leikai Model Club, at Heingang Makha Leikai, Kangjeibung Lampak, Imphal East.

Biren said while the people are criticising each other, some groups of people have started capturing indigenous ritual places of Awang Koubru hill and Ibudhou Thangjing hill. People should stop criticising each other by creating groupism, localism, he added.

Under the movement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Ekta Bharat’, India has reached 5th position in world economy, Biren said.

Biren said without the support from the public, no development is possible in Manipur. The new Union Budget 2023-24 was published with a target for the welfare of the country for the next 25 years to become a superpower. So instead of criticising each other, support each other, said Biren.

The chief minister said due to the support from people the state government has been able to set up various structures at the border area of Manipur.

Regarding the war on drugs campaign, Biren appealed to the people not to hide any drug users at home but to rather take advice from experts and to bring the drug users to the mainstream.

He appealed to the people to stop constructing community halls by dumping water bodies. The government is also taking various initiatives to save water bodies including Lamphelpat, Waithoupat and others.

With safeguarding the water bodies, Manipur can be restored from the impact of climate change, Biren added.
