The Chongtham Bimlabasnt Award 2022 of the Leimarol Khorjeikol (LEIKOL) was conferred to Prof Nongmaithem Tombi on Thursday during a function held at Manipur Press Club in Imphal.
The function was attended by Lamsang MLA S Rajen as chief guest, convenor of Manipur Language Advisory Board, Sahitya Academy N Kirankumar as guest of honour while president of LEIKOL Ksh Subadani presided it.
N Tombi in his speech stressed the need of unification of various organisations while organising a programme of common interest.
Pointing out that publishing a book in the state is not an easy task for a writer as maximum of the writers faced financial issues, he suggested establishment of a printing press for LEIKOL, to facilitate their members publishing books as well as for income generation.
Talking on women empowerment, he stated that every woman writer should be an activist and they should not confine themselves only to writing poems.
