Imphal Free Press's young and upcoming photojournalist Stephen Luwang secured the coveted CPB Photo Awards - Edition IV - 2023-24, organised by the Chennai Photo Biennale (CPB) Foundation. His photo essay was selected from among 9,000 entries received from 300 cities across India. Stephen Luwang was honored as the winner in the News and Current Affairs - Photo Story category.

The jury panel, featuring renowned personalities such as Daniella Zalcman, Dinesh Keishnan, Gabrielle Fonseca Johnson, Kay-Chin TAY, and Senthil Kumaran, meticulously evaluated the submissions. Stephen Luwang's winning entry focused on portraying the profound moments of human suffering and resilience amid the Manipur violence, shedding light on untold stories and stark realities often overlooked. Through his lens, Stephen captured the raw emotions and challenges faced by communities torn apart by conflict, emphasising the resilience and strength exhibited by individuals amid adversity.
