Channel-based counselling in Manipuri launched

The channel-based Counselling in Manipuri Language under IGNOU was launched by MoS Rajkumar Ranjan Singh on Monday.

Union Minister of State for External Affairs & Education Rajkumar Ranjan Singh on Monday launched the channel-based Counselling in Manipuri Language under IGNOU at a function held at IGNOU Regional Centre Imphal.

Professor Nageshwar Rao Vice-Chancellor, IGNOU was also present in the launching programme.

Speaking at the launching programme, the minister said that this technology-based learning system will provide a conducive learning environment in our own mother tongue Manipuri.

He congratulated IGNOU for developing such a language-based channel.

The minister further said that ‘National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’ has emphasised teaching in mother-tongue andthe initiative of IGNOU in channel-based teaching in the mother tongue is seen as a major intervention in this field.

The minister also said that National Education Policy 2020 envisions a paradigm shift in the entire education system of India. He also said that NEP 2020 is a landmark transformative initiative that aims to develop all-round competent individuals by providing the right environment to enable access to inclusive and equitable quality education.

He said for the last three years, the NEP has exemplified ambitious aspirations, innovative strategies and a steadfast commitment in revolutionizing education in India.

As the nation enters the next phase of its educational transformation, the far-reaching impact of the NEP is projected to endure for generations, empowering individuals who will steer India’s progress in the 21st century and beyond. He also expressed happiness asIGNOU has introduced many programmes and courses based on Indian Knowledge, Indian heritage and culture.

The minister further added that IGNOU has taken the lead in implementing the NEP 2020 which is a huge feat. In line with the promotion of regional languages, IGNOU’s regional language-based counselling sessions are very helpful.

He also said that the approaches, thoughts and roadmap germinated from IGNOU in priority areas of NEP, particularly on Quality of education, Skilling ecosystem in education, innovation and entrepreneurship in education and internationalisation will be converted into a compendium of best practices and case study and passed on to other Universities for paving the way for NEP implementation.

Apart from the Union Minister and the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Uma Kanjilal Pro-Vice Chancellor Srikant Mohapatra, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Salam Dilan Singh Regional Director, RC Imphal were also present as the dais members of the function.
