The Communist Party of India-Manipur State Council (CPI-MSC) on Sunday alleged that the central para-military forces deployed in the state are functioning in a biased manner and aiding Kuki militant’s vandalism and arson in many Meitei villages.
As a substantial evidence, a large chunk of paramilitary forces failed to prevent arson of villages and destruction of properties including the residence of Sugnu MLA K Ranjit located at Serou village, which was burned down by unknown miscreants in the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, stated a release.
It alleged that the government has no say in the deployment of the Central forces and has no modus operandi or strategies to control the alarming situation; rather they are obeying the dictates of the Union government.
It also expressed concern over the worsening situation in the state and said that arson of houses, destruction of properties and killing of innocent civilians have been normalized.
It added that all of it is happening under the watchful eye of the state government which is allegedly remaining as silent spectators only looking for safeguarding their chair.
It decried the Union government’s alleged failure to consider the public’s demand to review the SoO agreement till date as the ground rules have been violated.
The CPI-MSC further called upon the people of the state for unity to safeguard the integrity of the state and also cautioned them against being misguided.
