Expressing concern over the education and career journey which has reached a high-stake moment owing to the prevailing conflict, students of Churachand Higher Secondary School, Imphal on Tuesday demanded resumption of normal classes in the school by September first week.
Speaking during a press meet at the school campus, general secretary of CC higher Secondary school students’ union, Alex Khwairakpam pointed out that Rapid Action Police Force (RAPF) is still camped inside the school premises and asserted that the same has hampered resumption of normal classes till date.
He highlighted the hardships faced by the students and urged the concerned authorities to shift the RAF camp from the school at the earliest.
With additional security forces being deployed in the state to tackle the prevailing conflict, the state government has stationed the security forces in educational institutions, he stated.
He mentioned that despite the government’s order for resumption of normal classes in the state, the students of the school have had no access to normal classes till now as the RAPF are still camped inside the school campus.
He also noted the shabby condition of the school, stating that there are several holes dug up in the premises and the classrooms are in a deplorable condition. The general secretary further stressed the need to renovate the school first before resumption of classes.
Alex added that TG Higher Secondary School and Johnstone Higher Secondary School have already resumed classes and reiterated its appeal to the government to enable the same for their school.
Taking part in the press meet, convenor of CCIAN Forum Peace Committee, Angomcha Chingkhei said that CC Higher Secondary School is one of the top government schools in the state.
He expressed discontentment for sidelining the school, the careers of the students for a long time. He further urged the authorities concerned to remove the CAPF from the school premises and ensure education access to the students.
