The Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Manipur on Thursday announced that the Canchipur Water Supply Scheme will not be providing water for an unspecified period of time.

A release issued by PHED, Manipur stated that the Canchipur Water Supply Scheme will not be able to supply water as the Imphal River which had been its raw water source, has dried up.

The areas supplied by the Canchipur Water Supply Scheme including Chingamakha, Heirangoithong, Maibam Leikai, Naorem Leikai, Kakwa, Thongju, Langthabal Kunja and Mantrikhong, will not get water supply until the Imphal River rises up to the required level, it added.
