Karkinos Manipur Cancer Institute and Research Centre in collaboration with Thongju Part II Gram Panchayat and Seva Club organised a Community Awareness and Screening Camp (Cancer Early Detection Programme) to observe ‘World Cervical Cancer Awareness Month’ at Thongju Part II on Tuesday.
The Cancer Early Detection Programme included awareness sessions, general health check up, risk assessment, HPV vaccination and screening for six major forms of cancer which included – Oral, Breast, Cervical, Lungs, Prostate, and Colorectal, stated a release.
Several people including men and women from the Thongju Part II area attended the camp.
The objective of the programme was to create awareness about cancer-care, importance of regular health check–up, early detection of cancer and prevention among the people, it mentioned.
Consultant-Gynae Oncologist, Karkinos Manipur Cancer Institute and Research Centre Dr Thingujam James was present to highlight the importance of Early Detection and HPV Vaccination in preventing cervical cancer. He also raised awareness about the causes and symptoms of cervical cancer and asked people to take precautionary measures.
An experienced Medical Team of Karkinos Healthcare Manipur including Dr K Rajo Singh, HOD-department of Anaesthesiology, Consultant-Gynae Oncologist Dr Thingujam James, Consultant-Head and Neck Oncosurgery Dr RK Gautamjit along with Operations Manager W Imo Singh, RMOs and Nurses were present at the programme.
