Khwairamband Phouoibi Ima Keithel Vendor’s Welfare Union secretary K Dhaneshwari has called upon all women vendors in Manipur to form a united front instead of indulging in petty ‘Keithel politics’.

“Now is not the time for whimsical politics and bickering among vendors; we should all unite instead of trying to usurp power for selfish gains,” she said.

Speaking to the media at the Manipur Press Club, Dhaneshwari expressed discontentment over the stumping comments of few rogue members that could malign the image of the union.

“The reckless comments could derail the image of the union in the public domain. As such, they should be careful in passing out such unverified claims,” she said.

She informed that present members of the union held a meeting on Monday during which they unanimously concluded on various resolutions.

The resolutions stated that the members of the union would not partake in any unwanted activity which could disrupt public life, withdrawal from working committee of the three Ima Keithel but continuing support to Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint co- ordinating Committee and swapping out the union’s rogue members with new office bearers.

She cautioned that the union would take legal actions against individuals who use the union’s name without authorisation.

“Legal actions will be taken against people who use the union name for vested interests,” she added.
