Personnel of the 122 Battalion BSF succumbed to his injury at RIMS Hospital, Imphal, on Monday midnight after receiving bullet injuries from Kuki militants on May 28.
The deceased is 32-year-old Narender Kumar, son of Kirorimal of Lalawas Bhiwani Haryana.
He was shot in the head by Kuki militants near Meetei Council Moreh office in Tengnoupal district on May 28 at around 10 am. Two other BSF personnel were also injured in the incident.
It may be mentioned that Narender Kumar was posted at Moreh from Tripura in the wake of the prevailing clash. His body has been taken back to his hometown after conducting a post mortem at RIMS mortuary.
One injured in shooutout
IMPHAL: Meanwhile, a man was seriously injured from the gunshots of Kuki militants at Leitanpokpi Maning Leikai which is located 9 km north of Sagolmang Police station in Imphal East district on Tuesday at around 6 am, sources said.
The injured, 35-year-old Sagolsem Budha, son of one S Bimol of Leitanpokpi Maning Leikai, was hit by a bullet in his back piercing through to his chest. He is undergoing treatment at Raj Medicity Hospital.
Following the incident, a team of the BSF and 6th IRB exchanged fire with Kuki militants till 11 am, the sources said.
