As part of War On Drugs, a team of Jiribam Narcotic Cell seized Rs 25 lakh worth brown sugar hidden inside 25 soap caps from a four wheeler vehicle (Toyota Innova) coming from Imphal to Jiribam while the driver of the vehicle was arrested.
A source stated that the team led by Jiribam Narcotic Cell ASI A Krishna Sharma under the supervision of additional SP (OPs) AK Sadananda Singh was conducting checking, and the vehicle Toyota Innova bearing registration number AS 01 AW 9570 was stopped at Leingangpokpi due to suspicion.
The team found 25 soap caps containing brown sugar which had been approximated to be worth Rs 25 lakh in the international market. The driver identified as Md Azamir, 26, son of Md Azman from Sora Mamang Mayai leikai, Kakching district has been arrested, it added.
Jiribam district SP Ksh Ravikumar Singh said that as part of the War On Drugs, the team led by Jiribam Narcotic Cell ASI, A Krishna Sharma seized the illicit items and the suspect was arrested.
The arrested person along with the seized items was handed over to Jiribam Police Station for further necessary legal procedures, he added.
