Brothers, a group of friends formed to bring a change in Chandel district, has condemned the Oting killings and called for repealing the Armed Forces Special Power Act (1958) - AFSPA in Manipur.
Raising its voice against the brutal and inhuman act of the security forces, Brothers on Friday raised a banner at the Sports Complex, Chandel Christian in Chandel district calling for repeal of the draconian Act.
Ps Raylee Anal, a member of the Brothers, stated that ASFPA has done no good to the people of North East but rather taken innocent lives.
The Oting incident is one such example where AFSPA has been misused by the security forces to take innocent lives, Raylee said, adding that the draconian law will never bring peace in the region.
To bring peace and trust of the government in the North East, repealing AFSPA is the only way, Raylee said and appealed the government to do so.
The banner of the Brothers, raised at the 6th Hill District Sports Meet, 2020-21, organised by Hill Districts Sporting Association, Manipur (HIDSAM) was met with positive response from the various districts participating at the event.
