Boy drowns in Sengmai River

The body of an eight-year-old boy, who fell into Sengmai River at Yaikhom Pareng, Kakching Mayai Leikai, was found dead near Ibudhou Sengmai Ningthou.

An eight-year-old boy who fell into the Sengmai River at Yaikhom Pareng, Kakching Mayai Leikai under Kakching police station in Manipur was found dead near Ibudhou Sengmai Ningthou on Thursday.

According to sources, the victim has been identified as one Ksh Nganba, eight-year-old son of Nabakishwor from Yengkhom Pareng, Kakching Mayai Leikai.

“He was one of the two children who fell into the river on October 26. The other child was rescued and rushed to the hospital earlier,” the sources added.

A team of SDRF and local volunteers found the boy’s body near Ubudhou Sengmai Ningthou which is situated 200 metres away from the area where they fell in, it continued.

It mentioned that after Nganba’s body was found, his final rites were observed.
