Two bombs were found in residential areas in two separate incidents in Imphal on Monday, sources said.
The sources said that in one incident, miscreants allegedly planted a Chinese-made hand-grenade in the compound of a residence at Andro Khoibu Leikai under Andro Police Station in Imphal East around 1.15 am on Monday. The residence belonged to one 55-year-old Asheibam Tombisana.
In connection with the incident, Andro Police Station registered a case, after which the bomb was picked up by a team of Manipur Police Bomb Disposal Squad, and was safely detonated at Andro Ching at 3.30 pm.
In another incident, an old bomb suspected to be of WWII era was found from the kitchen garden of one Theitalong Longmei, son of Kaireidang from Luwangshangbam Kabui Khul under Heingang Police Station in Imphal West around 1.30 pm on Monday.
After registering a case at Heingang Police Station, a team of Bomb Disposal Squad safely detonated it at Heingang Chinga at 3.20 pm.
