The UNC team held a separate meeting with the villagers, including the chairman and his team on September 26 evening. The UNC team was briefed by the villagers about the incident.

“During the interaction with the village council and women society leaders, it has been confirmed that a constable by the name Thiyam Ashok Singh of the 87 Bn CRPF posted at Puiluan village planted trap-bomb near the National Highway 37 at about 7:30 am. The CRPF man was caught red handed by the women folks,” the UNC alleged.

The UNC said that the “intention has not been revealed to us, but the constable admittedly told to his post commander DSP RK Tonglun (CRPF) and in the presence of the village council and women folk that he planted the bomb under the directive of Assam Rifles”.
