Unknown miscreants hurled a hand grenade at Viewland Bazaar, Zone I, Ukhrul district, suspectedly targeting a shop at around 6 pm Friday. However, the bomb failed to explode, police sources said.

A team of district police and a team of Manipur Police Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) rushed to the spot and disposed of the grenade at Kasomtang forest which is about 4 km from Ukhrul town at around 12.25 am Saturday.

No groups have made any claims for the attack till the filing of the report. However, it is suspected that the bomb attack might be related with monetary demand, police said.
