Bomb explodes inside local resident's house, one injured in Imphal East

Decrying the bomb attack, locals of Arapti Mamang Leikai staged a sit-in-protest at Arapti Mamang Leikai, Imphal East on Wednesday.

A bomb suspected to have been hurled by miscreants exploded inside the house of one resident of Arapti Mamang Lelkal under Irilbung Police station Imphal East district on Wednesday, leaving one injured, sources said.

The sources said that the bomb exploded inside the house of one Kaborambam Loken, 55, son of K Ibohal of Arapti Mamang Leikai under Irilbung Police station in Imphal East district on Wednesday at 2.30 am.  

In the explosion, Kaborambam Kansan, 27, son of K Loken sustained a minor injury on his right leg. Some household properties were also damaged, as per the sources.

Loken is the supporter of intending NPP candidate Md Nasiruddin Boboi of Kelrao assembly constituency, the sources stated.

Meanwhile, decrying the bomb attack, locals of Arapti Mamang Leikai staged a sit-in-protest at Arapti Mamang Leikai, Imphal East on Wednesday.

A protestor told the media on the sidelines of the event that the locals strongly condemned the bomb attack in a populated area.

Questioning who will take responsibility had anyone died in the incident, the protestors further appealed to the authorities concerned to take necessary action to book the culprits behind the attack.

Appealing against such incidents in the future, the protestors displayed placards that read, ‘We do not accept Gun Culture’, ‘Bomb attacks, gun attacks, and pelting of stones are done only by cowards’.

On Monday, some miscreants fired several rounds at the residence of the Indian National Congress (INC) intending candidate, Thongram Tony at Keirao Bitra under Irilbung police station.
