A bomb suspected to have been planted by members of an unidentified insurgent group exploded at Mayangkhang village under Senapati Police Station in Senapati district, Manipur around 8.30 pm on Tuesday. 

According to police, the bomb exploded near a Bitumen Paver Machine used for construction of highways by LEKCON Infrastructure Pvt Ltd. Although the machine was damaged by the blast, no casualties were reported. 

A hill-based UG group had served a monetary demand to LEKCON Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, according to police. Senapati Police Station has registered a case in connection with the incident.
