The BJP Churachandpur Mandal organised a Mahila Morcha Mandal executive meeting at Le Zara Conference Hall of Bijang on Friday.
The meeting was attended by Mahila Morcha Manipur Pradesh president Looteka Leima; BJP Mahila Morcha Manipur Pradesh in-charge and BJP national executive member, Sumitra Laloo, and it was chaired by BJP Mahila Morcha Churachandpur general secretary, Ruth Paite.
During the meeting, one wheel chair was handed out to 62-year old Darthangvung of Muolvaiphei village and 10 blankets were given to 10 selected Mahila senior citizens of the district.
Looteka addressed the gathering emphasising on the upcoming state general election and pointed out that all the BJP Mahila intending candidates should be given the party tickets at any cost so as to promote women empowerment in the country.
She said that a four lane highway will be constructed if Thangthatling is elected from Tipaimukh assembly constituency.
Mentioning the importance of mothers and women in all spheres of life, Looteka said that once women of the state are elected and become the members of the legislative assembly, they will be empowered.
Sumitra Laloo spoke on the importance of mothers in India and the dire need of women empowerment for the betterment of the northeast in particular and India in general. She also lauded Thangthatling, who is the lone candidate of Tipaimukh assembly constituency, for her commitment to BJP.
