BJP grabs 10 seats; NPP, JD-U and independent secures one seat each in Imphal West

Imphal West recorded a win for female BJP candidate S Kebi of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa in the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election.

In Imphal West district, having 13 assembly constituencies, the BJP got the maximum seats with 10 wins, including a female candidate. The JD-U, NPP and an independent candidate got one seat each. The female BJP candidate is S Kebi of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa.

The remaining nine winning candidates of BJP are Speaker Y Khemchand of Singjamei AC, Education minister S Rajen of Lamsang AC, deputy speaker K Robindro of Mayang Imphal AC, MLA S Ranjan of Konthoujam AC, MLA H Dingo, MLA Karam Shyam of Langthabal AC, MLA RK Imo of Sagolband AC, S Kunjakhewor of Patsoi AC and Kh Raghumani of Uripok AC.

The JD-U candidate is former MLA Kh Joykishan of Thangmeiband AC, the NPP candidate is K Loken of Wangoi AC and the independent candidate is S Nishikant of Keishamthong AC.

Notably, retired IAS Raghumani defeated deputy chief minister Y Joykumar of NPP with a margin of 909 votes. Joykumar got a total of 7,426 votes while Kh Raghumani got 8,335 votes.

Former minister and sitting BJP MLA of Wangoi O Lukhoi was defeated by Loken with a margin of 3,266 votes, while sitting INC’s MLA Ak Mirabai of Patsoi was defeated by Kunjakeswor with a margin of 687 votes.

The sitting MLA of NPP L Jayantakumar who is also the working president of NPP, Manipur was defeated by an independent candidate, Nishikant Sapam with a margin of 3,114 votes.

Education minister, S Rajen won with a margin of only 400 votes against NPP candidate P Sumati while deputy speaker Robindro won with a huge margin of 6,129 votes against INC candidate, Kh Ratankumar.

Sampam Ranjan also won with a huge margin of 12,537 votes against the INC candidate Laishram Nando.

Speaker Y Khemchand won by a margin of 2,095 votes against NPP candidate, Oinam Romen while MLA H Dingo won with a margin of 3,333 votes against NPP candidate A Oken Singh.

MLA RK Imo Singh defeated his rival Kh Loken of JD-U with a margin of 2,565 votes. Meanwhile, Karam Shyam defeated his rival INC candidate O Joy with a margin of 2,053 votes.

JD-U candidate Joykishan won by securing 13,629 votes while his rival BJP candidate Jotin Waikhom received 9,856 votes.

The lone female winning candidate of BJP in Imphal West while speaking to the media after collecting his victory certificate expressed her gratitude to the people of her constituency for their support and blessings.

She assured to take up various steps to empower women of the state and put her effort to combat ever-increasing crime against women as a women representative.

The counting of votes for Imphal West was carried out at two places namely DC Imphal West and DM College Teachers Training Education Indoor Stadium Sports Hall.
