Manipur Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson K Sharatkumar Singh on Friday questioned on whose interests the Congress party is demanding to impose President’s Rule (PR) in Manipur and removal of N Biren Singh from his position as the chief minister.
The public is going to suffer when PR is imposed in Manipur, he said. He alleged that the Congress party wants to impose PR to make the people of Manipur suffer in order to get political mileage instead of working to bring peace and normalcy back in Manipur.
Sharatkumar said the present government under the leadership of Chief Minister N Biren Singh has been taking various steps to stop violence and bring back normalcy in Manipur. The Congress party’s demand to impose PR in Manipur is not in the interests of the public but they are demanding on the party’s vested interest, he alleged.
During the Congress government in Manipur, different communal clashes occurred between Naga-Kuki; Kuki-Paite even Meitei- Pangal. During those communal clashes no Central leaders of Congress party came to Manipur. However, during the present crisis, Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Manipur for three consecutive days, he added.
Demanding to impose PR in Manipur is like wishing to bring suffering to the people of Manipur, he added.
