Beekeepers invited to attend World Bee Day

The All Manipur Beekeepers’ Association (AMBA) to commemorate World Bee Day on Monday at AMBA office in Khundrakpam Awang Leikai Mamang Ching, Imphal East.

The All Manipur Beekeepers’ Association (AMBA) on Sunday announced its upcoming event to commemorate World Bee Day, and invited farmers and beekeeping enthusiasts to join the celebration scheduled to take place on Monday at AMBA office in Khundrakpam Awang Leikai Mamang Ching, Imphal East.

The event will facilitate in providing expertise and insights on significance of bees in agriculture, ecology, and rural livelihoods to the beekeepers, stated a release. It also said that a series of presentations, discussions and networking opportunities, aimed at fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among beekeeping enthusiasts, farmers, researchers, and policymakers will be held during the programme.

World Bee Day, designated by the United Nations, serves as an international platform to raise awareness about the importance of bees and other pollinators for biodiversity, food security, and sustainable development, it mentioned. It also emphasized the critical role of bees in maintaining ecological balance in light of global challenges such as climate change, habitat loss and biodiversity decline.

It further highlighted AMBA’s role in promoting and raising awareness of beekeeping, stating that the association was founded with the aim of advancing beekeeping practices, supporting beekeepers, and advocating for policies that protect pollinators and their habitats.
