Beating retreat ceremony held, prizes distributed

With a folk-dance festival and beating retreat ceremony, the 75th Republic Day 2024 celebration came to an end on Saturday.

Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey, Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Ministers, MLAs, chief secretary and other civil and police officers attended the event held at 1st Manipur Rifles Parade Ground in Imphal, stated a release.

During the event, the Governor distributed prizes to the winners of the folk-dance festival, it said. The winner troupe, Sangeet Kala Sangam, Khurai, Imphal East received a cash prize of rupees 1 lakh, while second winner Lianda Folk and Classical Academy, Imphal West, was given a cash prize of rupees 75 thousand and third winner Tribal Cultures and Research Centre, Tamenglong district received a cash prize of rupees 50 thousand, it mentioned.  

Uikey also felicitated four village chiefs and chairmen from Noney and Tamenglong district with red blankets on the occasion, it stated. She also distributed prizes to the winners of March Past competition held on Friday (Republic Day parade) in different categories, it added.

In uniform contingent, BSF stood first, CRPF stood second and Tripura State Rifles contingent scored third positions, while in School and other contingents, 1st MR Unit High School, Anouba Mangal Trust (Social Welfare Department) and Pari Imom Contingent stood first, second and third positions respectively, the release said.

It further said that Home Guard Female band, 2nd Manipur Rifles band scored first and second positions while CRPF Band and 1st MR Band both bagged the third position. It also mentioned that Talui Naga Village Dance Troupe, Ukhrul scored first, Mao Cultural Dance Troupe, Senapati scored second while Maring Lhousha Dance Troupe, Tengnoupal scored third position in the Cultural Dance Troupes.

The Directorate of Information & Public Relations stood first position in the Tableau category, it mentioned. Commissioner IPR, M Joy Singh along with Director (IPR) Th Charanjeet Singh jointly received the prizes from the Governor, it stated. Special prizes were also distributed to selected officers, it said, adding that Director (IPR) Th Charanjeet Singh received the special prize from the Governor.
