Barak Museum and Library opens in Assam

National secretary of Bharatiya Dhalit Sahitya Academy, New Delhi Yumnam Mahendra Kumar Singh donated six self authored books to the museum.

Social worker Naorem Chunilal inaugurated Barak Museum and Library, Bantarapur at Cachar, Assam on Sunday.

The event was attended by Khorirol Sandoklup, Wangjing; Manipur Sahitya Parishad, Thoubal district; Ningol khut, Manipur along with 31 other renowned poets of Manipur.

National secretary of Bharatiya Dhalit Sahitya Academy, New Delhi Yumnam Mahendra Kumar Singh donated six self authored books to the museum, followed by other writers donating their self authored books to the museum. As part of the occasion, many poets, including Mutum Babaton, recited their poems.

Speaking on the occasion, Haorongbam Rajmani lauded that the museum had been moved from being just a garage project to a new and proper location. Saying that Assam, Manipur or the Central government did not offer any form of aid in the project, he thanked former MLA of Sonai assembly constituency Animul Hok Laakar for donating Rs 2 lakh.

As part of the event, Ngangom Basanta Kumar and professor Khudongbam Gokulchandra launched the Barak Museum calendar, followed by cultural events.
