District Police Ukhrul said that the robbers involved in the bank loot of Punjab National Bank in Viewland, Ukhrul district have fled towards Sihai Khullen, which is 32 kms east of Ukhrul Police Station along with the looted money of Rs 18.85 crore.
Police arrested a person from Sihai Khullen who was involved in the bank loot as a driver on Saturday morning.
On investigation the arrested person has a Bolero pickup and the looters forced him to be their driver on the day of the robbery by forcing him out of his house at around 7.30 pm.
He added that eight robbers and the looted money were on his vehicle that night. The armed unknown miscreants did not let him move freely inside the vehicle. The robbers let him go when his vehicle stopped working a little further from his house. He was released through a PR bond after taking his statements.
