As many as 17 models walked the ramp set up at Gun Bae Oriental Restaurant in Imphal East on Friday as a part of the second audition for the upcoming Orange Queen Contest 2022 which will be one of the grand events of the State Level Orange Festival in Tamenglong.
According to SDO of Nungba, Namnamlung Gangmei, the convenor of the Orange Queen Contest 2022, a total of 25 participants will be selected from the two auditions along with the online audition for the grand finale of the beauty pageant which is scheduled for December 19 at the main venue of the festival.
He also confirmed that three renowned personalities of the state will also be attending as showstoppers of the beauty contest; however, their identities were not revealed.
Talking on the overall preparation of the Orange Festival, he informed of hoisting “Tamenglong Got Talent” to scout talents from Tamenglong district on December 17 and 18. The “Tamenglong got Talent” will be open to all the willing participants, he added.
Informing that bands from Northeast states will be invited during the fest besides organising various events such as traditional games, camping and others, he said that the motive of the festival is to promote tourism in Tamenglong with its oranges which have GI tag.
As the Orange Festival was conducted after a two-year gap due to the Covid pandemic, the organisers are looking forward to celebrating the festival in a grand manner, the convenor said, inviting all the people of the state to come and witness the fest.
DFO of Noney, Napoleon Rongmei, lecturer of TG Higher Sec School Sangita Thiyam (Orange Queen 2017) and fashion director of Orange Queen Contest, Robert Pao, were the judges of the Friday’s audition.
An online audition for two contestants each from Nagaland and Assam was also scheduled to be conducted on Friday’s evening. The first-round audition of the beauty pageant was held on Wednesday at Saikinu Inn at Tamenglong district headquarter.
