Speaking to the media during a press conference held at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal, N Ramesh Singh, general secretary of Meitei Society Churachandpur, expressed outrage over the attack.

Even if Dhanabir had committed any crime or offence against anyone, he should have been given a chance to explain the situation and resolve the issue peacefully, Ramesh said.

"Using a gun to attack someone with an attempt on life is utterly condemnable", the general secretary of the Meitei Society Churachandpur said.
