The All Tribal Labourers’ Association Moreh (ATLAM) on Sunday appealed to the state government to take a concrete decision to fulfill the charter of demands of the association.
The demands include revocation of the Manipur High Court banning the mining of sand and stones in Tengnoupal district and subsequent banning of the same by 20 Assam Rifles along the NH-39.
Revocation of wildlife tag to some villages in the name of Yangoupokpi-Lokchao Wildlife Sanctuary in Tengnoupal district.
The ATLAM stated that it is seriously perturbed by the “willful and deliberate” negligence towards the repeated request made by the Inpi Chamber of Commerce, Moreh and ATLAM who represents the local labourers.
“We are ready to launch a mass agitation including closing and seizure of all forest and wildlife offices/quarters if no solution is in sight by March 14," they said.
ATLAM also appeals to the general public and local CSO’s to co-operate and extend all possible support for the cause. The state government must be held responsible for any untoward incident, it said.
