Association 'involved' in fraudulent activities in name of 'War on Drugs' dissolved

The AADC and Kanglei PANAS dissolved the Manipur Anti Drugs Association allegedly running a fraudulent business in the name of ‘War on Drugs’ campaign.

The All Manipur Muslim Development Committee (AMMDC) and the Kanglei People Against Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances (Kanglei PANAS) has announced that MADA, an organisation which was allegedly running a fraudulent business in the name of ‘War on Drugs’ campaign, has been dissolved.

Speaking to media at AMMDC headquarter at Lilong Usoipokpi, AMMDC vice president Abbas Khan said a team of AMMDC and Kanglei PANAS conducted an investigation on receiving information about an organisation conducting suspicious fraudulent activities using the name of the ongoing ‘War on Drugs’ to extort money from individuals.

The team of AMMDC and Kanglei PANAS apprehended one BM Suhaib Shah, who claimed to be the president of the Manipur Anti Drugs Association (MADA) that has been carrying out suspicious fraudulent activities using the name of ‘War on Drugs’ campaign, at around 1 pm on Monday, he added.

BM Suhaib Shah, 24, son of BM Mano from Lilong Usoipokpi along with his accomplices had been orchestrating several fraudulent activities using their made-up organisation MADA, including extorting money from rehabilitation centres, schools and other institutions in the state in the name of ‘War on Drugs’ campaign, he alleged.

The AMMDC and Kanglei PANAS team seized a Samsung keypad phone, a Redmi android phone, 10 letterhead copies, Id cards for the MADA president and secretary, banner flag, seals and files etc and were kept at the organisation’s headquarter, he continued.

On questioning, BM Suhaib disclosed that he had been carrying out such fraudulent activities for couple of years, he alleged.

Abbas Khan also informed that the members of MADA namely Makakmayum Imran Khan, son of Allauddin, BM Nurul Ameen, son of late Kudus Ali from Lilong Turel Ahanbi Ubakthong Mathak and Rewaz, son of Mujibur from Lilong Kaleikhong to come to AMMDC headquarter and Kanglei PANAS office within the 48 hours and apologize to the public.

He said the responsible rehab centres and individuals who were the accomplices of the organisation in extorting money in the name of ‘War on Drugs’, must surrender themselves and issue a public apology.

Failure of which, AMMDC and Kanglei PANAS will take up necessary legal actions against them, he cautioned.

Announcing that Manipur Anti Drugs Association (MADA) had been dissolved, he appealed to the public to be wary of such a malicious organisation.
