Assam, Mizoram report highest COVID-19 active cases in Northeast India

India on Wednesday reported COVID-19 active caseload of 81,687, with the detection of the infection among 12,249 new cases.

Assam and Mizoram continued to report the highest COVID-19 active case tally in Northeast India, with 132 and 124 cases respectively, while India on Wednesday reported COVID-19 active caseload of 81,687, with the detection of the infection among 12,249 new cases.

According to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry, India’s active cases stand at 0.19 per cent, while its recovery rate currently is 98.60 per cent with 9,862 recoveries reported. The total number of recoveries has reached 4,27,25,055.

The cumulative COVID-19 confirmed caseload in India has reached 4,33,31,645, while the death toll climbed to 5,24,903 as 13 more succumbed to the disease on Tuesday.

The country’s daily positivity rate is 3.94 per cent while its weekly positivity rate is 2.90 per cent, while 85.88 crore total tests have been conducted so far across the country. And, 196.45 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

Meanwhile, Assam’s COVID-19 active caseload rose to 132 as of Tuesday, the highest among Northeast states currently followed by Mizoram with 124 total active cases. Meghalaya today has 20 COVID-19 active cases, while Manipur has four active cases. Tripura and Nagaland reported zero active case, while Arunachal Pradesh has three and Sikkim reported nine active case tally as of Tuesday.
