It improves the quality of life and it helps us understand our world. It is an essential part of our culture as art helps us understand our emotions and sensations deeper, the Governor said during the inaugural ceremony of Thoithoiba Mayanglambam’s Solo Art Exhibition “Saknairabasingi Liklu Pareng” held at Imphal Art College, on Friday.

According to a release from the Governor’s Secretariat, Raj Bhavan, the Governor said, like language, art is also a form of expression. Its message may be symbolic or religious, historical or political. The purpose of art is not just to transmit a message, but more importantly, to elicit an emotional response.

Anusuiya Uikey continued that painting has always had a special place in human life. The artist does not look at happiness, sorrow, crisis, success and failure with ordinary eyes but his vision penetrates the essence of things, finds many forms in one and shows them as they are.
On the present-day crisis, the Governor said, unfortunately, our state is currently going through a period of unrest. This situation is sad for all of us, the governor said and appealed to the people to cooperate in bringing a normal and peaceful life.

Let us make collective efforts to resolve this crisis so that our tradition of peaceful co-existence can be maintained, the Governor said and reiterated that she is in touch with the central leaders and efforts are being made to restore normalcy and peace so that all Internally Displaced People (IDPs) can return to their respective places as before. She asked the artists to reach out to the children in relief camps.
