Tamenglong Battalion of Assam Rifles recovered a massive cache of weapons in the woods between Mongjirong Khunou and Old Nungnang villages of Noney district, Manipur on Monday.
A statement issued by its adjutant informed that an intelligence based operation was conducted by the Tamenglong battalion of Assam Rifles in the aforementioned area, which resulted in the seizure of a massive cache of weapons to include Carbine Machine Gun, assault rifles, pistols, explosive material and ammunition.
In recent times, proscribed factions have been trying to fuel the communal tensions to further their own ulterior motives, the adjutant stated.
The recovery of weapons is a major success for the Security forces. This operation is important to ensure peace in the hill district of Manipur State, which has generally remained restive in the recent past, he said.
