The Assam Rifles on Sunday strongly condemned and refuted the allegations made by Kuki Inpi Manipur against SM, Commandant, 18 AR colonel Oinam Akash, stating that the allegations are unfounded and deplorable.
Col Oinam Akash, a decorated soldier belonging to Manipur has been instrumental in restoring peace in the sensitive Dolaithabi area, stated a release.
The locals in the area of Saikul, Dolaithabi, Sangolmang, belonging to all communities are well aware of the massive efforts put in by the officer and his soldiers, acting with disregard to their own personal safety to keep the civilians safe, it stated. His relentless efforts in ensuring a peaceful atmosphere in the area has been commendable, it added.
It is extremely unfortunate to see Kuki Inpi falling prey to malicious propaganda and making such unfounded, radical and communal allegations against the gallant and decorated officer, it further stated.
“Such statements are not only defaming but also devoid of the ground realities. It was the troops under his command that took proactive actions to stop the miscreants in the area of the Khamenlok on January 27, it stated.
Assam Rifles will continue to discharge its duties in an impartial, fair and firm manner. Assam Rifles reassures their commitment in establishing peace in the state and requests the population to refrain from falling prey to such malicious and vitiated allegations, it added.
