In an effort to highlight the importance of art and creativity in life, the Noney Battalion of Jwalamukhi Sector of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) organised a painting competition at Haochong High School in Noney district.
The competition was conducted with an aim to encourage the children to express their feelings through colours and drawings as it helps in mental development of the children during their formative years of education, IGAR (East) stated in a release.
Informing that stationary items were also distributed to the students before the competition, it said that the village authorities expressed their gratitude and appreciated the endeavour of AR troops of, for initiating such motivational events for children of the remote areas.
The release also stated that the (Late) Lt Col Robert TA Memorial Open Football Tournament under Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme Project was kicked off on Friday at Karong Football Ground in Senapati.
It said that the tournament was organised by the Maram Battalion AR under the aegis of Jwalamukhi Sector Assam Rifles of IGAR (East) and it will go on till March 11.
Stating that the tournament was declared open by brigadier Bikram Saini, it said that the tournament will be played between 16 teams from all across the state.
Announcing a cash award of Rs 2 lakh for winning the team and Rs 1 lakh for the runner up team, it said that the prize distribution and closing ceremony will be graced by Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
