Applications invited for MACS fellowship

MACS stated that the fellowship is open to journalists working in print and electronic media (including online) with a minimum of three years experience in journalism.

The Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS) on Wednesday invited eligible journalists based in Manipur to apply for the 2nd Manipur State AIDS Control Society Media Fellowship 2022-2023.

In a release, MACS stated that the fellowship is open to journalists working in print and electronic media (including online) with a minimum of three years experience in journalism.

It stated that the interested individuals should submit an application along with a bio-data, a letter of support from the editor that the output under the fellowship will be published for print media and telecast for electronic media, a brief proposal outlining the subject, and story ideas that the applicant proposes to focus on.

The applicants should submit at least three samples of work published earlier on HIV/AIDS or any other health related works, preference will be given to latest published works, it added. 

Freelancers can also apply for the fellowship if they fulfil the above conditions and women journalists are encouraged to apply, it continued. It stated that the duration of the fellowship is four months from November of 2022 to February of 2023.

The last date of submission is September 29, and the selection of the applicants will be done by a jury of MACS officials, it stated. Two journalists will be selected for the fellowship and the selected fellows will receive stipend of Rs 50,000 to support research, travel and writing in two instalments, it further stated.

The selected applicants shall publish eight news stories of 1,500 words each for print media and five visual stories for TV and online media, based on the research carried out under the fellowship, it mentioned. The published articles and stories will have to be submitted on the completion of the fellowship programme, it added.
